  • Fruits and Vegetables: While dieting, it is often possible that you deny your body the nutrients it requires. Hence, following a balanced diet is extremely crucial. The best way to do so is to incorporate ample amounts of fruits and vegetables into your diet. Vegetables that have anti-oxidants and high levels of insulin such as asparagus, spinach and broccoli are your safest bet. Between meals, snacking on fruits that have high water content is also another way you can stay full and energetic throughout the day as well.
  • Water: Though this may not seem like a significant step, water is more important than you probably think it is. Your body needs a certain amount of water on a daily basis. This water will ensure that your body functions smoothly as well as helps keep your metabolism in check. Water will help break down the fat content in your body, if you are trying to lose weight. If your body does not get the water it needs, it will store it, almost as if it would store water. This will nullify all the hard work that you are putting in your diet.
  • Processed foods: Though it is perfectly normal to have cheat days, try to stay as far as you can from processed foods. Most processed foods have a very high content of sugar which essentially contains no nutrients but adds a lot of empty calories to your diet. The preservatives, colorants, additives and flavorings added to processed foods can also be harmful to your body in the long run. It is also extremely easy to overeat when eating processed foods mostly because your brain pushes you to eat more than your body actually needs.
  • Skipping sleep: Again, this causes more damage than you think it does. Sleep deprivation leads to hormonal imbalance which in turn leads you to crave foods that have a high content of fats, carbohydrates and sugar. This is because the gluten content in carbs help fuel your brain which desperately needs it because of the lack of sleep.
  • Set Realistic Goals: Be kind to yourself. Do not crash diet to the extent where your body starts to crave for food or you start feeling sick.  It is not possible to see results within a day or even a week. A healthy diet will give you slow and steady results. Do not be discouraged. Set a realistic goal for yourself that you can be sure of reaching in the stipulated time frame. Make the necessary lifestyle changes, stay focused on your goals and do not be discouraged if the going is slow. Do not over exercise and punish your body. Instead, be patient and kind to your body and watch the results over time.
