Christian Dorr said “Perfume is the indispensable complement to the personality of women, the finishing touch to a dress.”

People who smell good are automatically more attractive.I love my perfume and if you’re like me, you’re probably looking for ways to make your perfume last longer on your skin, right? You don’t want that scent to disappear after just a few hours or even a few minutes, you want it to linger!

So take a look below, I’ve got some ways that will make your perfume last really long:

If you want your fragrances to last longer, don’t store them in your bathroom or other damp, warm places. Heat and light can degrade some of the ingredients which can mess with the scents in your perfume and thus, lessen it’s quality. In the bathroom, the humid air can infiltrate the bottle. Instead, store them comfortably  in cool, dry spots like on the vanity in your room and away from windows.

Target pulse points and warm areas on your body when spraying perfume. To make your scent last longer, choose a couple target areas (not all of them at once) . Perfume scent is stimulated by warm skin.  The best areas are the neck, cleavage, areas where the veins are closest to the skin’s surface such as the pulse of the hand and neck, the upper fold of the elbow, the back of the knee or behind the ear. Freshly washed hair will carry a scent for up to a week. The warm areas indicated will help diffuse the fragrance across your entire body and spraying your ankles and calves will allow the scent to rise throughout the day.

Rub Vaseline on your pulse points before spraying your perfume to make the scent last longer. The ointment, which is occlusive, will hold the fragrance to your skin longer than if you were to spray it onto dry skin.

When you are in the shower, your pores open up due to the steam. So, if you apply your perfume right after your get out of the shower, your pores will soak up the scent better. Also, the moisture on your skin will help lock in the scent. and it’ll last longer!

Spray the perfume before getting dressed to prevent the fragrance from staining delicate clothes or jewelry. Perfume is activated by heat and chemical reactions so it’s actually more effective when it comes in contact with your body rather than your clothing.

Spray a few fragrance blotters with different oils and perfumes and smell them at the same time to see if they complement each other. Once you find a combination you like, try them on your skin (your skin oils can alter the way a perfume smells). If the fragrance still seems good , apply successive layers of these fragrance for the best scent reach.

For example: Wash with scented shower gel, use scented deodorant, apply the perfume extract base, and 30 minutes after the first application of perfume, add water to strengthen and extend the effect of the scent’s duration.

Make sure to spray the stronger scent first and then top it with the lighter fragrance so that the first fragrance doesn’t overpower the second.

The biggest mistake that people make when it comes to this particular tip is that they layer too many fragrances on. Just a couple fragrances should be good!

To get the best out of scent or perfume it is recommended to keep the nozzle 6 inches (15.2 cm) away from the skin and then spray.

For a lighter scent, spray the fragrance in the air and slowly walk into the mist. The spray will distribute evenly across your body and leave you with a hint of fragrance for occasions when you don’t want to smell as strong.

Oily complexions retain fragrances longer, so if you have dry skin, use a moisturizer first to help lock in the scent.  Many people see oily skin as a problem, but when it comes to longer lasting perfume wear it’s actually a blessing.

If you really want your perfume to last a really long time, why not spray a little bit of it in your hair? Spraying an alcohol-based fragrance directly onto your hair will dry it out, so instead spray the fragrance on your brush before running it through your hair. That way, every time you move, you’ll be able to smell your perfume! Also your hair will be lightly scented and undamaged.
