This place is also famous as “the Gateway of God.” Haridwar is located at the foothills of Himalayas. The River Ganges, after flowing for 253 kilometers (157 mi) from its source at Gaumukh at the edge of the Gangotri Glacier, enters the Indo-Gangetic Plains of North India for the first time at Haridwar, which gave the city its ancient name, Gangadwára. Pilgrims come from all over the world to this city to witness its majesty and radiance.

Varanasi, also known as Benares or Banaras, is a city located on the banks of the Ganges in Uttar Pradesh, 320 kilometres (200 mi) southeast of the state capital, Lucknow. Hindus hold the belief that death in Varanasi helps the soul to reach heaven. The city looks stunning during the evening because of the lamps which people send floating across the river banks.

Bodh Gaya is a pilgrimage and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bihar. It is believed that Gautama Buddha achieved enlightenment here under the Bodhi Tree after an intense period of meditation. Historically, it was known as Uruvela, Sambodhi, Vajrasana or Mahabodhi. The main monastery of Bodh Gaya used to be called the Bodhimanda-vihāra (Pali). Now called the Mahabodhi Temple, it was originally built during the 3rd century BC by King Ashoka.

4. GOLDEN TEMPLE (HARMANDIR SAHIB)

It is a beautiful Sikh Gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It was built by the fifth Sikh guru, Guru Arjan Dev, in the 16th Century. Adi Granth, the holy scripture of Sikhism, was completed by Guru Arjan Dev in 1604 and installed it in the Gurdwara. People come here in hope of peace and spirituality.

5. MEENAKSHI AMMAN TEMPLE

Meenakshi Amman Temple (Also known as : Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple or Tiru-aalavaai or Meenakshi Amman Kovil) is a historic Hindu temple located in the southern bank of river Vaigai in the temple city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India.  The temple is built using Dravidian architecture and has 10 gopurams (towers) decorated with stucco figures. The temple spreads across an area of 45 acres (18 hectares). It is also one of the richest temples in India and is dedicated to the Hindu deity, goddess Parvati.
