Meenakshi Amman Temple (Also known as : Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple or Tiru-aalavaai or Meenakshi Amman Kovil) is a historic Hindu temple located in the southern bank of river Vaigai in the temple city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is built using Dravidian architecture and has 10 gopurams (towers) decorated with stucco figures. The temple spreads across an area of 45 acres (18 hectares). It is also one of the richest temples in India and is dedicated to the Hindu deity, goddess Parvati.
