The thought of Punjabi food is tempting in itself! Mouth-watering dishes with cream, Desi ghee and spices are hard to resist. Punjabi food is actually famous nationwide for its flavors. Dishes like tandoori rotis, naan, and tikka are the typical Punjabi dishes. Not only do we have the most sumptuous non – veg food from here, but amazing vegetarian options for others!

In Punjab, paranthas with different fillings (cauliflower, cottage cheese) are very common and are mostly taken for breakfast. Aloo parantha is the most common. So, paranthas stuffed with delicious potato stuffing, served with a block of butter and sweet curd – need I say more? Do not forget to exercise well after having these to shed off the calories!

2. SARSOON KA SAAG AND MAKKI KI ROTI

A combination of these is a traditional dish in Punjab especially in winters. The gravy is made from mustard leaves and has a rich dark green colour. It is to be enjoyed with the chapatti made from corn flour. The two dishes complement each other’s taste and warm your body!

3. TANDOORI CHICKEN

As the name suggests, this dish is made in the oven or the tandoor. Chicken is marinated in a mixture of yoghurt and several spices and herbs to enhance the flavors and juices! It is a treat for every hard core non vegetarian!

Lassi or buttermilk is the favorite of every Punjabi you will find! This refreshing drink is perfect for summers and even better for chugging championships (just suggesting)! It is thick and creamy. Usually it goes with any meal you might be having and is traditionally served in tall and large steel glasses.

Yet another non-veg dish which is impossible to resist! Juicy chicken with silky and buttery gravy with a hint of spices. The dish is best served with butter naan or tandoori roti!

7. RAJMA CHAWAL

Usually taken for lunch, this dish is regularly made in every Punjabi household. It is made of red kidney beans which are extremely nutritious. A plate full of freshly prepared rice and a bowl of Rajma with sprinkled onions and you are all set!

8. DAL MAKHANI

Dal makhani is prepared using lentils and fresh cream and butter! The subtle spices add amazing flavor and the creamy texture of the gravy makes it perfect to be eaten with tandoori naan!
